The collection of historic models of Museo Nazionale was created to celebrate the fifth centennial of Leonardo’s birth. A group of experts studied his manuscripts in order to create the models which were displayed for the first time in 1953.

Rather than being projects of machines to be built, Leonardo’s technical drawings display observations of existing works, suggestions for improvement or studies on nature. Revell, starting from the museum collection, has implemented a series of wooden construction model kits, like the museum modelers made sixty years ago.
